Pentalver and Forth Ports Invest in Automated Box Depot
UK – The Port of Tilbury, owned by Forth Ports, and Pentalver, a company rapidly gaining ground as the go to place for anything to do with shipping containers, from logistics and road haulage to bespoke conversions, have announced a significant investment in Pentalver's current inland freight container operations facility at the port. Pentalver, which has had a depot at the port of Tilbury for seven years, has this month relocated into a new purpose built facility, built for it by the port.
The new facility, which has been designed with a high level of automation to ensure an efficient service for its customers, covers 6.6 acres at Berth 43, and has also been strategically positioned nearer the London Container Terminal operations within the port estate for ease and rapidity of box operations.
Pentalver now has five strategically placed depots in locations best suited to its ongoing container distribution work. Operating from HQ in Cannock the company also covers the country’s main ports at Southampton and Felixstowe and, as well as Tilbury, covers the Thames area from its newly opened facility in London Gateway. Shaun Allen, Chief Operating Officer of Pentalver Group observed:

The new site, which is closer to the container terminal business and benefits from significant investment, ideally positions us to meet the needs of our Tilbury clients now and in the future.”
As part of its company-wide continuous improvement programme, Pentalver's Tilbury depot now benefits from its investment in new highly automated equipment designed to minimise vehicle turnaround times. An additional new empty container handler has also been added to the Tilbury fleet and, commenting on the investment at the Port of Tilbury, Perry Glading, Chief Operating Officer of Forth Ports said:
