A documentary about the dockers of Le Havre.
Auberi Edler is persevering. The director, a former war reporter, took two years to get her camera accepted in the closed world of the dockers of Le Havre. The time needed to gain their trust. And once obtained, she had open doors in this working-class community.
Nearly 2,500 dockers work on the Port of Le Havre. All are union members at the CGT. It's like that forever. This working class community lives in true solidarity, all generations combined.

Director Auberi Edler spent nearly a year on their side to show their work, but also their daily lives.
The film, entitled "Jacquotte and dockers", mixes slices of life. From young apprentices in training to the elders who receive their Christmas parcels, union leaders negotiating to the widows who receive their compensation, the camera makes us discover for the first time the intimate life of the corporation.
The film, financed through a participatory fundraising campaign on the internet, received the support of brothers Dardenne and Ken Loach. It will be broadcast on France 3 Normandie before the end of the year.
