An MSC cruise ship crashed into a dock before running aground this morning on the Caribbean island of Roatán off the coast Honduras… and the entire incident was captured on video.
We are told that the incident occurred as docking at the cruise port.
The video shows the cruise ship allided with the dock before coming to a stop as onlookers looked on in shock.
Roatan Island is the largest and most developed of Honduras’ three Bay Islands.
The MSC Armonia was built in 2001 and can accommodate 2,679 passengers and 700 crew members, according to MSC Cruises’ website. The 65,000-ton ship is 902 feet in length and 104 feet in beam.
MSC Armonia currently sails seven-night Caribbean itineraries with stops in Havana, Cuba, Jamaica, and Belize, among others.
AIS ship tracking data showed the Armonia arrived in Roatan from Cozumel, Mexico. The data showed the vessel was doing about 11.6 knots on its approach but slowed to 8.7 knots as the vessel came closer to shore.
