C/V TUCAPEL Breaks Its Mooring Ropes In NY / NJ Port

Ron Signorino

From a friend at NY/NJ port, I'm made to understand that the terminals there have just experienced significant rain, heavy thunderstorms and high wind gusts.
The winds were so pronounced, that C/V TUCAPEL (8000+ TEU; Built 2012) broke mooring lines while actively coming to berth. The ship was forced to drop anchor in order to help arrest movement, and was subsequently stabilized and secured with the assistance of four tug boats (see attached photos & marinetraffic.com depiction).
