Kalmar Introduces New Electric Terminal Tractor

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, is introducing an electric version of the Ottawa T2 terminal tractor as a zero-emission alternative for trailer-handling operations.

The new tractor has been designed for use in dispersed warehouses, container terminals and operations where short-distance highway travel is necessary.
Developed to meet the growing demand for electrically powered solutions, the Ottawa T2 terminal tractor features a powertrain that is cheaper to run and easier to operate and maintain than a standard diesel-powered machine.

The new tractor used the latest in Lithium-ion battery technology and features an onboard charging port, allowing the battery to be charged during short working breaks, and an advanced battery monitoring system which will alert the driver when a charge is necessary.
Kalmar has also designed the tractor to offer a wealth of benefits to the driver, including smoother acceleration for increased driver control, lowered noise, vibrations and heat, and no fumes and emissions for a safer and healthier working environment.
