You know the saying, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. That’s exactly what maritime pilots in Finland do when it’s simply too icy for the pilot boats.
The video was reportedly filmed on April 2, 2018 in Hailuoto, Finland as the Ro-Ro cargo ship Tavastland headed for the Port of Oulu located in northern Gulf of Bothnia. It actually looks quite a bit safer than some other boardings we have seen, as long as you don’t miss the pass.
