Terminal Update Port Of Southampton

Dear customer

DP World Southampton is experiencing very high stack levels which is impacting our productivity.

This is due to a combination of factors including an unseasonably large number of empty containers in our yard which, combined with the normal pre-Christmas peak, has increased our stack density and resulted in slower than normal productivity. The impact is that the shipping lines are choosing to ‘cut and run’ before we have discharged or loaded all their containers. Additionally a national shortage of haulage drivers means that boxes are staying on our terminal for at least a day and a half longer than normal, adding to our already-limited capacity during the pre-Christmas peak.

We want to assure customers that we are taking all possible measure to address this including extending weekend opening hours, waiving the Saturday charge and opening all day on Sundays at no extra charge. Here are the new opening hours and charges.

More detail about the factors affecting productivity at Southampton and the action DPWS is taking can be found here.

We will keep you informed with regular updates about our productivity via our terminal alerts system.  Please make sure you have signed up here.
