Two double crewed ambulances and two paramedics were sent to the scene, but it soon emerged that the person had passed away due to their injuries.
No-one was taken to hospital and the scene was left in the hands of police.
As a result of the incident a section of the the docks have been closed to members of staff.
It is believed that the victim is a lorry driver with reports from one witness that they were involved in a "horrific accident" whilst working at the docks.
Immingham is one of the busiest ports in Britain handling cargo imported from Europe and around the world as well as exports. It handles hundreds of lorry movements every day.

Investigation launched after death
The Health and Safety Executive are now working with police as they launch an investigation into the man’s death.
A HSE spokesperson said: “HSE is aware of an incident at Immingham docks and assisting the police, who have primacy, with their investigation.”
Statement from ABP
An Associated British Ports spokesperson said: “We can confirm there has been an incident at the DFDS site at the Port of Immingham this morning and we are working with the emergency services and DFDS to support them.”
DFDS confirm death at docks
DFDS have confirmed that there has been a fatality at the DFDS Seaways site on Immingham Docks.
DFDS are working closely with the authorities, and a full investigation into the incident has begun.
A DFDS spokesperson said: “Our thoughts go out to everyone involved in this terrible incident”
Driver worked for local haulage company
It is believed the driver was working for a local haulage company based in North East Lincolnshire.
It is reported he was standing at the back of his trailer when another trailer collided with him causing fatal injuries.
Man suffered 'serious injuries'
Humberside Police have issued a statement regarding this incident this morning.
A spokesperson said: “We were called to the DFDS site at Immingham Docks at 6.30am today to reports that a man had suffered serious injuries following an industrial accident.
“We are investigating the incident and are working with the site management and Health and Safety Executive to establish the circumstances.”

Earlier this month Associated British Ports, who run Immingham Docks, announced a £36 million investment into its container terminal.
Immingham one of the busiest ports in the country
The port of Immingham is one of the busiest in the whole of the United Kingdom.
It handles more than 183,000 container units a year, more than double the capacity it dealt with in 2013, when it handled 68,000.
Reports of a 'horrific accident'
A family member of a lorry driver at Immingham Docks has said that a person has died in a “horrific accident” involving a lorry trailer and that the docks had been closed as a result.
EMAS called to road traffic collision
East Midlands Ambulance Service were called to a road traffic collision this morning at Immingham Docks.
A spokesperson said: “We received a call at 06:34 to an incident at Immingham Docks. The caller reported a road traffic collision involving one patient. We sent a LIVES paramedic, a paramedic on a fast response vehicle and two double crewed ambulances to the scene.”
