COSCO and Navis Strike N4 Partnership

COSCO Shipping Ports (CSP), the biggest terminal operator in the world, has agreed to create a joint Centre of Excellence (CoE) with world leading digital supply chain company Navis.

The CoE will implement the N4 Terminal Operating System across CSP’s portfolio of assets and deliver dedicated Navis resources for implementation projects.
Furthermore, it will be used to support a number of key areas across CSP’s portfolio. These include defining a standard of delivery methodology and tools for CSP.
It will also define the CSP IT landscape and explore the use of multi-facility setup for small terminals without on-premise hardware.
According to a statement, this is the latest in a series of technological collaborations between CSP and Navis.
Earlier in 2018, the two parties entered into a subscription agreement to implement N4 across its network – which currently comprises of 269 berths at 38 ports worldwide, 179 of which are for containers.

Bruce Jacquemard, Chief Customer Officer, Navis, commented: “Joining forces with COSCO Shipping Ports is the latest in a string of strategic partnerships for Navis with innovative terminals committed to cutting-edge technology and is a logical next step stemming from our subscription agreement earlier this year.
Zhang Wei, Vice Chairman, CSP, also spoke about the partnership. He said: “Our partnership with Navis and the CoE is critical for the multi-facility setup of N4 that is already underway – providing one central solution for all terminals within our corporate infrastructure,
“With Navis’ help, we’ll create a standardized delivery method, based on their years of experience as the leading TOS in the market and key takeaways from the hundreds of N4 implementations that they have successfully executed.
“With a scalable and repeatable approach, global experience backing the CoE and supplemental regional teams, CSP is well positioned to bring N4 live across our network and improve overall operational efficiency.”
