Emergency services are currently at the scene of a collision on #A14Eastbound at #Nacton involving a lorry. Both eastbound lanes are blocked at this time. Please avoid the area.




An overturned lorry is stopping all traffic on one side of the A14 in Suffolk, causing massive delays for vehicles heading to Ipswich and Felixstowe.


Suffolk police were called to the scene of the accident on the eastbound carriageway of the A14, just after junction 57 at Nacton, near Ipswich, at 12:36pm.
They found a lorry on its side, blocking both lanes of the carriageway.
Paramedics are also attending the scene but the condition of the lorry driver is not yet known.


As a result of the accident traffic is building into Ravenswood and Nacton.
According to Suffolk Highways the road is expected to be closed until at least 4pm.
The Orwell Bridge has not been affected by the accident, however traffic is moving slowly on the bridge.
The AA Traffic News website says: “Road blocked and slow traffic due to rolled over vehicle on A14 Eastbound from J57 A1189 Nacton Road to J58 A12 (Seven Hills).
“The road is blocked due to an accident which resulted in one of the vehicles to overturn.”

The Orwell Brige is now shut both ways after an overturned lorry stopped all traffic on one side of the A14 in Suffolk, causing massive delays.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 12.38pm to reports of a road traffic collision on the A14 in Nacton.
“We sent one ambulance, which is currently on the scene.”

The last of the vehicles caught within the closure are now being turned around via the rear of the queue. Thanks for your patience if you were caught up. We're anticipating the road will remain closed throughout the remainder of the afternoon to facilitate full recovery works. 

#A14 eastbound between J57 (Nacton, Priory Heath) and J58 (Lowestoft, Woodbridge #A12) remains closed. Please be aware there is over 4 miles of slow moving traffic on approach of the closure. Roads in and around #Ipswich are also heavily congested. Allow extra time for your journey.

All vehicles are now on the hard shoulder and traffic has been released. All lanes now open. Just over 3 and a half miles of congestion remains in the area but this should now start to ease.
