With great regret, we've been made to understand that a longshore worker at Tacoma was fatally injured late yesterday evening aboard M/V NORTH STAR, a Ro-Ro vessel.

Through several independent sources, we're told that the ILWU member was signaling a trailer into a stowage position adjacent to a ramp on the ship's main deck when he was struck by another tractor/trailer combination moving in reverse.

In the fullness of time, we hope to have further information coming from members of this page and other sources. In the meantime, we grieve along with the family and friends of this veteran longshoreman.
