Car carrier SINCERITY ACE taken on tow

Car carrier SINCERITY ACE was taken on tow by salvage tug KOYO MARU (IMO 9162148), towage commenced at 0200 UTC Jan 9, in position 24 43N 171 10E, 1720 nm off Japan, North Pacific. Heavily damaged car carrier is to be towed to Japan. No information on present condition of the ship, how and when fire was extinguished, if it was extinguished. 3500 Nissan cars were on ill-fated car carrier, and probably, other cars of other producers – such probability was mentioned in some reports. Of 21 crew, 16 were rescued, 4 died, 1 is missing.
