PEEL PORTS GREAT YARMOUTH PASSES HEALTH AND SAFETY AUDIT WITH FLYING COLOURS
Peel Ports Great Yarmouth has passed three certification surveillance audits with flying colours, making it one of the safest, environmentally driven and highest quality ports in the UK.
Auditors from BSI visited the multi-purpose port which has recently integrated a new, deep-water outer harbour with a well-established river port, to assess its performance across three standards - ISO9001 (Quality), ISO14001 (Environmental) & OHSAS 18001 (Health and Safety).
Peel Ports Great Yarmouth passed the audits with zero non-conformances to continue its position as the only Peel Ports cluster in the UK to have all three certifications in place. The port is used predominantly to support the offshore energy industry which demands its suppliers deliver the highest standards in supporting its activities.
ISO certifications are a group of quality management systems standards designed to help businesses ensure that they deliver continuous improvements to meet the needs of customers and stakeholders while fulfilling their statutory and regulatory requirements.
Richard Goffin, Port Director for Peel Ports Great Yarmouth, said: “Our continued compliance to these accreditations are fantastic news for the Peel Ports Great Yarmouth, particularly at a time when we are growing our offering to support the burgeoning offshore energy industry on England’s east coast. This achievement is no mean feat and requires input from all levels of the business to ensure we are meeting and surpassing the high standards which we are working to. We now look ahead to the next audit and upholding these standards to ensure we continue delivering excellence for our customers.”
Great Yarmouth is due to be audited again in October and is will to share its 2019/2020 improvement plan with staff, setting out how it intends to make further improvements.
Peel Ports aims to recruit 250 new staff in 2019, with a focus on talent from outside the traditional port community in an effort to expand and strengthen its wider range of logistics services.
