The Port of Felixstowe is Britain's biggest and busiest container port, and one of the largest in Europe. The port handles over 4 million TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) and welcomes over 4,000 ships each year, including the largest container vessels afloat today.
Container Operations is our core business where we receive vessels and load and discharge containers. We also offer our customers excellent Rail Operations, Examination facilities and Roll-On, Roll-Off facility.
To support the continued growth of the business we are looking to recruit a number of Port Operatives to drive our internal movement vehicles (IMV) transporting containers to different areas across the Port. As a 24hr/7 day operation we are looking to increase our resource to service the peaks and troughs we experience as a business. Please note that applicants must be aged 19 years and over at the point of application and hold a full UK valid driving licence. Experience of working shifts and holding a valid HGV licence is advantageous, however, is not necessary.

South Coast Port Services (SCPS) has a long tradition of port operations - over six decades. With a head office based in Southampton, we provide skills and services to operators and other customers currently at the Port of Southampton. However, we are pleased to announce that we have been successful in gaining the opportunity to supply a contract stevedore service to DP World London Gateway.
We are currently seeking to recruit a number of Multi Skilled Port Operatives to be based at our London Gateway Division at Corringham, Stanford le Hope, Essex.
This is a physically demanding, manual industry where all operatives work in a safety critical environment. Health and Safety is of paramount importance. The port operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The role entails working any five over seven shift pattern.
We are proud of our status as the biggest and most successful contract stevedore in the country and wish to continue to provide a high standard and quality of service and exceed our customers’ expectations.
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide an effective and efficient cargo lashing/pinning service/heavy plant driving in line with specific customer requirements and in line with Company quality processes.
- Monitor and maintain work practices with particular focus on health and safety.
- Ensure that customer requirements are maintained on both quality and standards.
The main requirements for the position are
- Must be over the age of 18 to apply

- Ability to work at heights.
- Good communication skills.
- Full UK / EU Driving Licence essential.
