ANTWERP - A fatal accident happened on Thursday in an accident in the port of Antwerp. At the Europa terminal a man (58) fell out of a straddle carrier. That happened at a height of 12 meters. The man died on the spot. All activities on the quay were stopped for a while.
The 58-year-old Belgian was an experienced driver. He has been active in the port for 28 years. He may have been training new drivers at the employer organization CEPA at the time of the accident.
"I can unfortunately confirm that an accident happened today at PSA's Euro terminal," confirms Caroline Creve of PSA terminal operator. “The victim was a straddle carrier driver who died in the process. The exact circumstances of the accident are not yet known. Now our attention is initially focused on the support of the victim's family and colleagues. "
