Several Associated British Ports (ABP) employees will be leaving the organisation following its decision to reorganise its divisions.

The company will restructure its corporate affairs & marketing team and decrease the number of ABP regions from four to three, a decision which will see the company’s group head of corporate affairs & marketing position, held by David Leighton, made redundant. ABP said that Matthew Kennerley, regional director of South Wales, has decided to step down from his position, with Andrew Harston, director of Short Sea Ports, to take additional responsibility for ABP’s ports in South Wales.

A spokesperson for ABP said: “ABP can confirm that, as part of a reorganisation, it will decrease the number of ABP Regions from 4 to 3 in order to optimise operations, facilitate easier best-practice sharing and to further standardise processes and procedures."

Moving on
The spokesperson stated: “In relation to this reorganisation, Matthew Kennerley has decided he wishes to move onto new challenges outside of ABP.”
Mr Kennerley will leave ABP on 30 June. After joining the company in 1989, he held multiple key management positions around the group before progressing to regional director of South Wales.
Speaking about the restructure of its corporate affairs & marketing team, ABP said: “As a consequence of this, the group head of corporate affairs & marketing position will cease to exist, which means that David Leighton will be leaving ABP.” Mr Leighton’s last day will be on 30 September.

ABP added that as part of the reorganisation it will also make changes to the setup of its London head office. Andrew Garner, general counsel & company secretary, has resigned and will leave on 30 June 2019. He will be replaced by Angela Morgan, effective 1 July.
"We would like to thank Matthew, Andrew and David for their significant and outstanding contributions to ABP over many years of service," stated ABP.
