Through a friend in North Africa, we're made to understand that United Arab Shipping Corporation's C/V JAZAN lost her chief mate yesterday owing to an alleged fatal heart attack he suffered while the ship was working at Damietta port, Egypt.


Through a friend in North Africa, we're made to understand that United Arab Shipping Corporation's C/V JAZAN lost her chief mate yesterday owing to an alleged fatal heart attack he suffered while the ship was working at Damietta port, Egypt.
We're unsure whether or not his cardiac event was brought on by a nested flat rack lift that came apart during operations (see photos below), but from what we can conjecture it appears that the means of interconnecting the lift was problematical.
At least one of the flats dropped into the hold, puncturing the vessel's tank top.
