Remembering 37 years ago, Atlantic Conveyor was a British Merchant Navy ship, owned by Cunard Line, part of Atlantic Container Line (ACL) and registered in Liverpool. Atlantic Conveyor was requisitioned in April 1982 and sailed south from her lay up berth at West Canada Dock Liverpool to Portsmouth for conversion. After same she headed south on 26th April as part of the Task Force arriving on May 18th. Atlantic Conveyor was sadly hit on 25th May 1982 by two Argentine air-launched AM39 Exocet missiles, killing 12 crew members including the Master Captain Ian North.
Atlantic Conveyor sank whilst under tow on 28 May 1982.
