The Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Malaysia, has once again broken the record for vessel utilization record after the MSC Gulsun, the largest container ship in the world, left with 19,574 TEU on July 28, 2019.
The milestone means PTP has broken the record three times in a row and has become the first port in the world to set back-to-back records for container vessel utilization.
The previous record, which PTI reported on, was only set in June 2019, when the Maersk Monaco left dock with 19,284 TEU on board.
The 400 metre-long MSC Gulsun has a total capacity of 23,756 TEU and is the first of a batch of six ultra-large container vessels ordered by MSC, the second-biggest carrier in the world by market share.
It is fitted with the latest smart and eco-friendly technology, focusing on low-carbon, energy and operational efficient state-of-the-art system.
