News Update: Tuesday 24th September 2019 Levington Ship Pub

News Update: Tuesday 24th September 2019
Following a thatch fire at The Ship, Levington in March this year the pub has been closed whilst our specialist builders have worked alongside Conservation Officers and our insurers to ensure this iconic pub is restored and reopened as quickly and authentically as possible. We are pleased to say that these works have progressed well and will conclude with the reinstatement of the thatched roof in October, allowing the pub to reopen its doors to customers in time for Christmas.

We are also delighted to announce that Deben Inns Ltd., who currently operate six other nearby pubs, will be taking on the lease for The Ship. This will complement their two other Adnams properties - The Maybush, Waldringfield and The Butt and Oyster, Pin Mill - making them a perfectly positioned partner to restart and grow the business at this wonderful pub for both the local community and visitors alike.

Once again, we’d like to thank everyone associated with the pub for their patience and understanding during this period of closure.

The Ship, Levington·
Nestled in the heart of Levington village, The Ship Inn is just as you would want it to be. This small, thatched pub boasts a roaring fire and beams galore, complemented by a interesting range of cask ales, wines and artisan spirits, and a fresh, homemade food menu using the best locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients.
This quaint and cosy pub dates back to the 13th Century and oozes character - you can still see some of the original ship timbers from which the pub was built and gave it its name.
Levington sits on the banks of the River Orwell and feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. With Ipswich only 4 or so miles away, it is an idyllic pocket of peacefulness with beautiful country walks and a rich sailing heritage.
