Felixstowe

Container Division

circa £30,000 including bonus and shift pay

The Port of Felixstowe is Britain's biggest and busiest container port, and one of the largest in Europe. The port handles over 4 million TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) and welcomes over 4,000 ships each year, including the largest container vessels afloat today. 
Container Operations is our core business where we receive vessels and load and discharge containers. We also offer our customers excellent Rail Operations, Examination facilities and Roll-On, Roll-Off facility. 
To support the continued growth of the business we are looking to recruit a number of Port Operatives to drive our internal movement vehicles (IMV) transporting containers to different areas across the Port. Please note that applicants must be aged 19 years and over at the point of application and hold a full UK valid driving licence. Experience of working shifts and holding a valid HGV licence is advantageous, however, is not necessary.

Multi Skilled Port Operative (MSPO) - Days
Full-time - Permanent (Any five over seven shift pattern)
Port of Southampton

We are currently seeking  a number of Multi Skilled Day Port Operatives - to be based at the Port of Southampton. 
This is a physically demanding, manual industry where all operatives work in a safety critical environment. Health and Safety is of paramount importance.
The port operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The role entails working any five over seven shift pattern and overtime will be available to allow us to meet the demands of our customers.
We are proud of our status as the biggest and most successful contract stevedore in the country and wish to continue to provide a high standard and quality of service and exceed our customers’ expectations.

Salary £25,530 per annum + bonus
There will be opportunities to progress to Multi Skilled Shifts positions, which involve a higher rate of pay and working nights when required.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Driving straddle carriers 
  • Provide an effective and efficient cargo lashing/padding service in line with specific customer requirements and in line with Company quality processes. 
  • Border inspection and checking containers 
  • Warehouse duties including unpacking and packing containers 
  • Other duties associated with vessel loading/ discharging operations 
  • Monitor and maintain work practices with particular focus on health and safety 
  • Ensure that customer requirements are maintained on both quality and standards   
The main requirements for the position:   
We are seeking individuals who can demonstrate a first class, effective and efficient service to our operation ensuring that the high standards of service and performance levels are maintained and improved, including flexible approach to working arrangements, ability to work in a small team and good communication skills.
Due to Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1974 applicants must be 21 years of age and have a full driving licence.
All applicants will go through a selection process to be short listed for an assessment day which will consist of psychometric tests and interview. Selected candidates will receive full training for the position.
The assessment day will be held on Tuesday 8 October 2019 subject to availability of the candidates.
