Was honoured to be asked to speak at the IDC 8th Congress in Lisbon. The IDC was founded in support of the 500 Liverpool dockers who was sacked in 1995.
It was challenging task to get up and speak. Especially after all the great speakers that already spoken at the Congress .
And not forgetting the scouse accent which I wouldn't change for world I think the inturpearators think Liverpool is not in England and so do most people I meet for first time on my travels.
A lot of the speakers informed the Congress of the hard times and I mean real hard times and struggles. The IDC has promised to support are comrades. And to do what ever it takes to improve. And change the terrible conditions and fights that are brothers and sisters are fighting to change.
But it was also nice and a proud moment to inform the IDC that the port of Liverpool is now back on the map for all the correct reasons a unionised port and workplace. The port of Liverpool is now back working in house for the port authority and no longer agency workers.
When I first started on docks was times I thought this was never going to happen. I like to thank everyone who has supported me especially my work colleagues. And everyone from the Casa and Idc Coordination long live the IDC.
If we are together IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO FAIL!
We will never walk alone again!
