Maritime strengthens Intermodal division with new senior appointments

Maritime Transport Ltd. has made further senior management appointments as the business continues to add to its already-impressive road transport credentials with the recent venture into being able to offer a full intermodal and domestic distribution rail solution to its valued customers, providing a full end-to-end UK logistics solution.
John Bailey has been promoted to the position of Managing Director – Intermodal and Terminals having risen through the ranks within Maritime since joining in 2001, and has valuable experience in all aspects of the company and industry. As Maritime’s rail terminals and container depots become a larger part of the business and with rapid growth expected in this area, John’s appointment will enable him to lead a dedicated team with a reporting structure to maximise these opportunities.
In a further move to support its growth plans, Maritime has appointed James Tierney as its Rail Development Manager. James has worked in the logistics industry for over twenty years, with key roles at GB Railfreight, Colas Rail, DHL, and Network Rail.
Commenting on the new appointments, Chief Executive Officer, Simon Smart, said: ‘The promotion of John and the introduction of James enhances our Intermodal product that we are able to deliver to our customers. We are growing our credentials in this area and with the opening of our new rail terminal at East Midlands Gateway and the recent addition of the new Felixstowe service, Maritime Intermodal is offering more reliability and choice into the market.’
