COMMUNICATION: COVID-19

As “key workers” we are providing an essential service to maintain operations to assist our customers and UK plc.
We are committed to supporting the Government’s initiative to minimise contagion of COVID-19 and in so doing protect the NHS’s ability to cope and save more lives.
The Prime Minister has indicated that we are now facing a National Emergency and asked that we all do more to stop the spread of the disease.
In response to Government advice we have implemented a number of measures.
WORKING FROM HOME
We have introduced working from home where we sensibly can, and where that is not practically possible put in place social distancing measures to safeguard our people.
SOCIAL DISTANCING
Where it is not practicable to work from home additional social distancing initiatives have been identified and are being implemented.
We have order additional portacabins and in some instances changed the use of existing facilities to create more available space. Some of the portacabins are already in place, others are on order and will be delivered in the coming days.
We have implemented social distancing when moving people around our Ports, reducing the number of people in minibuses to ensure we maintain safe social distancing. Additional transport vehicles are also being put in place, so we reduce the chances of people gathering in one area.
On some sites we have now introduced measures to stagger the start and finishing times of the shifts, asking the teams to arrive no more than 5 minutes before a shift and leave immediately after the shift is over - managing the number of people coming together at any one time.
KEY WORKER STATUS – TRAVELLING TO AND FROM WORK
We are aware that the police are conducting random spot checks on the roads to limit unnecessary travel. As “key workers” every employee has been issued with an official designation letter to ensure safe passage on their journey to and from work.

A THANK YOU
We recognise the critical role our employees continue to fulfil and remain truly grateful for their continued commitment. As a small gesture we are introducing a daily free food and drink for all our employees in the workplace. This is also an attempt to support local businesses who may be struggling at this time.
MESSAGE FROM MARK WHITWORTH, CEO
It is more important now than ever that we engage with our employees. A short, personal video message of thanks has been produced and the link to access shared with all our employees.
At these testing times we need to count on the support of each other if we are to meet the challenges and keep the country moving.

Mark Whitworth
CEO
