Ipswich/Felixstowe: Port worker jailed for 10 years for manslaughter of Lee Jackson

PORT worker Sebastian Kornjaca was today sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for stabbing to death a man during a frenzied attack at a block of flats in Ipswich.

The 22-year-old – who was portrayed during his Ipswich Crown Court trial as hard-working and devoted to his family – had an unblemished character before stabbing Lee Jackson 27 times on October 22 last year.
Earlier this month Kornjaca, of St Anthony’s Crescent, Ipswich, was found guilty of Mr Jackson’s manslaughter, having been acquitted of murder.
During the trial the court heard how Kornjaca, an engineer at the Port of Felixstowe, had covered his face with dark make-up and a pair of tights before confronting Mr Jackson at the Chesterton Close flats where he lived.
Kornjaca suspected the 43-year-old of starting a fire in Coltsfoot Road, Ipswich, earlier the same night.
The arson attack occurred at the home of the father of Kornjaca’s girlfriend.
Detective Chief Inspector, Neil Luckett from the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team who lead the enquiry said: “Today’s sentencing at Ipswich Crown Court reflects the circumstances of this case.
“There is no doubt that Sebastian Kornjaca made a deliberate attempt to disguise himself and carried out this attack on Lee Jackson, which according to the verdict was due to his temporary loss of control. Unfortunately the result of this violent attack was that Lee Jackson received 27 stabs wounds, which eventually killed him.
“I hope that this sentencing can bring some closure to Mr Jackson’s family and friends and our thoughts are with them at this time.”
