About this video
"I co-directed this film with my good friend Graeme Mcaulay in the summer of 2009. We were asked to make it by the head of the History & Business unit of BBC Factual London. We were given a huge amount of creative freedom, shot the entire thing ourselves, and put it together with the help of a brilliant but small team. Claire Hamman did a fantastic job on the archive. Across the UK, we met a fantastic cast of characters - from Felixstowe's shipspotters to the legendary dockers of Liverpool. The film is regularly repeated on BBC4, and was nominated for a number of awards. The film is voiced by poet Roger McGough." |
