Storm update: Orwell and Breydon bridges closed in preparation for high storm winds later tonight

The Orwell Bridge has been shut because of the high winds.
The Highways Agency announced earlier tonight they were expecting to close the bridge at around 10pm or just before.
That has now happened and diversions are in place for motorists wanting to cross the River Orwell.
Winds of about 65-70mph are expected this evening and the high-sided vehicles had already been prohibited from using the bridge at 4.30 this afternoon as wind speeds picked up.
The Breydon Bridge which carries the A12 over the River Yare to Great Yarmouth has also been closed.
Both routes have signed diversions in place to help drivers bypass the affected roads.
