Rudder failure caused collision off Port Said

After the "Colombo Express" contacted the boxship "Maersk Tanjong" while overrunning the latter off Port Said on Sep 29 in the Suez Canal, a hydraulic rudder mechanism was blamed for the accident.
When the rudder turned hard to port, the "Colombo Express" veered portside, contacting the "Maersk Tanjong". Both vessels were sailing in southern direction towards Jeddah. Two lost containers have been already recovered.
The "Colombo Express" continued its voyage to Jeddah the same evening, closely followed by the "Maersk Tanjong".
