Clemence Cheng to be ECT’s next CEO?

Clemence Cheng, CEO of HPUK and MD of the Port of Felixstowe, could be adding the post of CEO of Hutchison's biggest European operation, ECT in Rotterdam
Rotterdam sources have informed WorldCargo News that they understand that Clemence Cheng will take up the position. As Jan Westerhoud's successor, Clemence Cheng would effectively add the northwest Europe and Scandinavia interests of Hutchison Port Holdings to his portfolio as CEO of HPH in the United Kingdom and MD of HPH’s Central Europe Division. Mr Cheng, who is based in Felixstowe, has not responded to WorldCargo News'questions in time for this posting and nor has the ECT spokesman in Rotterdam.
In the UK, HPH operates the ports of Felixstowe, Harwich and Thamesport. The Central Europe Division of Hutchison Ports includes southern Europe. By including ECT in Rotterdam and Jan Westerhoud’s other areas, HPH would have one single CEO covering all of Europe, if the information is correct. This has been done this way before, by Richard Pearson, although that was a temporary situation.
It is suggested, too, that Cheng would direct ECT’s Management Board, now down to four man following Jan Westerhoud’s departure, from his Felixstowe base. The Rotterdam team consists of Wando Boevé, Director Marketing & Sales, Jasper Hooykaas, Personnel & Organisation, Leo Ruijs, Finance, and Jan Waas, Technolgy & Engineering.
