ECT staff campaigning for CLA in competitor RWG

Staff ECT holds-slow at the terminal on the Maasvlakte. They are trying to force them to pay a collective agreement for the new container terminal competitor RWG.

Rotterdam World Gateway on the Maasvlakte has no collective agreement concluded for the employees. It is the first company in the port of Rotterdam. Port workers and unions are angry about it.

The delay in the work consists of additional safety inspections and work meetings. Employees say as long with the action going until RWG want to talk about the introduction of a collective agreement.

The action began Tuesday. They are directed against the ships of the shipping companies that are shareholders of RWG. It is APL, Hyundai, Mitsui and CMA-CGM. The ships of these companies get away with ECT as the RWG terminal is fully operational.

A spokesman for ECT regrets the course of events and calls the actions of the staff annoying for customers.
