Coming to a port near you ... Now cast strategies - and shared experiences ... Norwegian Harbour Association, what exactly is the question? "High on the agenda was the issue of dock workers (dockers) and how this issue is handled in the Nordic countries and elsewhere in Europe." Meeting between Nordic terminal operators This week met Norwegian Harbour Association, NHO Logistics and Transport, Finnish Port Operators and Danish Port Operators and representatives from Sweden's terminal operators for an exchange of experience. High on the agenda was the issue of dock workers (dockers) and how this issue is handled in the Nordic countries and elsewhere in Europe. Attending the meeting was also Secretary General of the Federation of Private Port Operators (FEPORT) to hear about the Nordic challenges and inform more about efforts to improve conditions for Short Sea Shipping in Europe. Otherwise discussed organizations the one year old Athens Declaration for promoting koknurransedyktig and sustainable shipping in Europe were on the agenda.

A key topic on the agenda was the environmental requirements that apply and which will be placed on the industry in years to come. -To Experience exchange meetings are useful to increase knowledge and find solutions to foster Short Sea Shipping, says Arnt-Einar Litsheim, director of the Norwegian Harbour Association.http://www.havn.no/sitepages/news.aspx
