Filthy fighting water is pumped
In Bremerhaven harbor special forces have begun to pump tons of polluted fire water from the cargo ship "Maersk Karachi". Altogether it's about 12,000 tons of water that has been classified as waste by the environmental department for a report.

After the boom in May a container bridge had crashed on the Maersk Karachi, there was a little later another fire on the container giants. The fire-fighting water from back then will be pumped out.
In the first step a film is pumped from cleaning agents, according to a spokesman of the environmental ministry. This 1,000 tons of water are placed in three containers for disposal to Hamburg. The rest of extinguishing water, which is also loaded with highly toxic dioxins is to be pumped to a vessel and brought to a processing facility in Denmark.
On the Maersk Karachi still store 150 containers. They are to be recovered as soon as the fire-fighting water is out. That could be the middle of next week ready.
On the boat the end of May had broken out a fire in salvage operations. The delivery of a container bridge was overthrown before the freighter. Here, a port worker was killed. The investigation into the cause of the accident are still ongoing.
