ABOUT US

THE HISTORY OF FELIXSTOWE CARNIVAL

Felixstowe Carnival Association was founded over sixty years ago.

The exact year the carnival started is to date still being researched.
The aims of the carnival association is and will remain the same, working together as a community for the community.

Here are some facts the current carnival committee know:

Over the years the carnival has undergone many changes but the fun still remains!
In the past there was a Carnival King as well as a Queen and Princesses!
The royal court was crowned at an inaugural ball.
Before splitting in to their own respective carnivals, Trimley, Walton and Felixstowe all shared a procession travelling down the full length of the high road.
Wesel our twin town in Germany have often sent their Carnival Prince and Princess to take part in the Felixstowe Carnival Procession.

We are unsure as to how long our German neighbours have been taking part in the procession and as to whether or not we ever sent our Royal Court over to Wesel.

THE THEME FOR THE 2015 FELIXSTOWE CARNIVAL

Over the years  there have been many colourful and elaborate themes set for the Felixstowe Carnival and this year is no exception.
We have chosen Magic Of The Movies as vast subject matter indeed!

THE DATE OF THE 2015 FELIXSTOWE CARNIVAL

Once again, we are holding the Felixstowe Carnival in July.
On the 25th & 26th July our town centre and promenade will play host to our procession, commencing 1pm from Colneis Rd down to the sea front where there will be plenty of fun activities, music and entertainment for all age to enjoy.

*Your Carnival Needs You!** sign up as a volunteer at this years Felixstowe Carnival. Do you think you can spare some time over the weekend? We are looking for volunteers to help with:- • Procession marshalling • Seafront assistance with road closures, selling programmes, litter picking • ‘Bucketeers’ A new word we have created to describe the kind volunteers that can assist us during the air shows and Fireworks displays, to help collect the donations from the public; which help to keep our Carnival free for everyone to enjoy. Following on from last year’s Carnival, as you are no doubt aware we will need volunteers to help us build on that success. Thank you to all those who offered to help in the wake of the weekend; we would love to take you up on those offers of help. So if you are interested in helping us, whether as a bucketeer, or to assist the organising committee during the weekend please register your interest e-mail us at contact@felixstowecarnival.org .

2014 saw the launch of our new look colour souvenir programme.(CLICK HERE TO VIEW)

The Felixstowe Carnival programme is an ideal means to target a large audience in a short space of time.
Large volumes will be sold 2 -3 weeks up to the event and over the course of the weekend many more.
The space you purchase is for you to fully customise. You could run a special offer only valid over carnival weekend or an on going one which is redeemable at a later date or simply have an advert with a mini editorial piece.

The programme as a whole will include interviews and profiles of local businesses alongside local features, historical pieces on the carnivals origins, royalty pictures and features on the flying display and entertainment details.

FELIXSTOWE CARNIVAL PROCESSION

Is watched by 1,000’s of members of our community and those who travel from afar to spend time in the sunny seaside town for the Felixstowe Carnival weekend.

The 2015 procession will start at 13:00 on the 25th July, the exact timings and route will be included on this page nearer to the date.

The colourful floats, the marching bands, the extravagant costumes and talented majorettes are simply a delight to watch.
