Things are going really well for DFDS at present. So secure that the capacity is allocated best according to needs on individual routes, DFDS har decided to undertake a major fleet reshuffle in the North Sea. “Changing vessels from routes while keeping up with the sailing schedules is an interesting puzzle to solve and can’t be done in a day. The current changes also mean that several captains shift between vessels in order to have the right person with the right pilot exemptions (PEC holders) on each ship”, says Richard Berg-Larsen, Director of Operational Fleet Management. Rotterdam – Felixstowe Britannia Seaways will replace Anglia Seaways. This will increase weekly capacity by 300 trailer units in each direction. The route will be serviced by Suecia Seaways, Selandia Seaways og Britannia Seaways. Rotterdam – Immingham The current two-ship service will be increased to three ships on the route: Corona Seaways, Fionia Seawaus and Anglia Seaways. That means we will be able to offer extra departures at weekends and on busy Tuesdays and Thursdays when more capacity is required. Gothenburg routes The six flower vessels will change routes in order to accommodate the strong volume growth on the Ghent – Gothenburg route. Nearly every departure is currently fully booked and by moving two of our largest vessels to this route we can increase capacity further. Gothenburg – Brevik – Immingham will be served by Primula Seaways, Petunia Seaways og Ficaria Seaways. Gothenburg – Brevik – Ghent will be served by Begonia Seaways, Freesia Seaways og Magnolia Seaways. Klaipeda – Kiel / Klaipeda – Karlshamn Optima Seaways og Athena Seaways will switch routes in order to meet the increasing demands for passenger and freight capacity leading up to Christmas. Klaipeda – Kiel: Optima Seaways, Regina Seaways. Patra Seaways is helping out with the overflow freight until Christmas. Klaipeda – Karlshamn: Athena Seawys og Victoria Seaways. The changes will take effect between 30 November and 2 December. Source: DFDS Update |
