Safmarine appoints new UK head

Gary Jeffreys to take lead as Maersk subsidiary moves from Felixstowe to Liverpool
SAFMARINE has appointed Gary Jeffreys as its new country manager for the UK and Ireland.
Mr Jeffreys, a Maersk Line staffer since 2003, replaces Mal Hurridge and will oversee Safmarine’s head office move from Felixstowe to Liverpool, where parent company Maersk Line is based.
Mr Jeffreys joined Maersk Line after a short stint with Evergreen and managed sales teams in the UK for a number of years before moving to Copenhagen as global head of sales capability, where he was responsible for developing and delivering a sales training university for Maersk Line’s global commercial organisation.
“I am delighted to be joining Safmarine,” Mr Jeffreys said. “With new investments in an improved online booking system it has a compelling offer and approach to shipping that I believe is unmatched in the industry. I am looking forward to being part of its journey in the UK and Ireland.”
He will take over to manage the transition of the office from its current location in Felixstowe to Liverpool, where it will share Maersk Line and Seago Line’s premises. All office-based roles in Felixstowe will transfer to Liverpool, and consultations on relocations have taken place with employees.
