THANKS FOR ALL SUPPORT OF TROMSØ DOCKERS IN THE DAYS JAN22 TO MAR4 2016!
Twelve great days with workers solidarity is over in Tromso. Around 150 activists from some 60 unions and other organizations came to Tromsø and supported the dockers. It has been a wonderful experience in solidarity and companionship. We meet again!

Hi
I react to that Hurtigruten actively contributes to undermining Tromso dockers lawful strike. It is unacceptable that a large company operating in Norway do not respect the right to strike. I'm not going to travel with Hurtigruten until they respect the right to strike and stop facilitating strike breakers. Sign: .....................

Between the 22. February and the 4th of March there was a call for a large gathering in support of the striking dockworkers in Tromsø. The plan was a continuous blockade of the cargo operation at the port of Tromsø. The longshoremen in Tromsø have been on strike for over two years, but the company Nor Lines have chosen to use scabs to undermine the legal strike.

A handful of activists from Motmakt and Blitz traveled to Tromsø to show their support for the striking workers, along with representatives from a vast number of unions and organizations. The week we spent in Tromsø was a class in practical solidarity and workplace politics. In a shifting situation where Hurtigruten suddenly decided to undermine the strike by avoiding the blockade, it was inspirational to see the will and unity displayed by the dockers and their supporters.

The weeks of action was a clear victory for the striking workers and Nor Lines was forced to shut down opperations at their Tromsø terminal. Hurtigrutens despicable behavior with the following PR-storm did not change the fact that changing their routine, adding an extra stop and then increasing speed to catch up with their route costs a lot of many. As strikebreaking should.

We would like to thank all the activists that traveled to Tromsø, as well as the local longshoremen for their hospitality. The dockers never stand alone!
