Felixstowe Carnival 2016

Are you still thinking about volunteering Carnival weekend.

Whether it is as a bucketeer during the firework display, for an hour or two on the promenade or for one of our other tasks we are still looking for volunteers.
Carnival Weekend is approaching rapidly on the 23rd and 24th July.
We need more people to help as stewards, marshals, bucketeers and with setting up.
No experience is necessary. All we ask for is enthusiasm and a welcome smile. In return, we can assure that you will have a great time and be part of a team that puts on a great event. What is more, you get to enjoy the atmosphere knowing that you have helped to make it happen.
Please help us to make 2016 Carnival in Felixstowe the best ever.
If you are interested in helping us, please register your interest by e-mail as soon as possible at volunteer@felixstowecarnival.org .
We will be arranging a volunteers’ evening on 11th July for those who have agreed to help so we need your registration now.

Bands & Entertainment

Like The Beatles

LikeTheBeatlescolourLike The Beatles are the UK’s most authentic Beatles tribute band, entertaining audiences all over the British Isles and Europe for almost a decade.
Their attention to detail in the musicianship and characterisation with authentic instruments and costumes and a keen eye for detail they are completely dedicated to bringing audiences the most technically accurate experience of The Beatles a tribute band can get. Their love for and obsession with The Beatles is apparent in every aspect of their performance.
Being largely a band of brothers, their close family dynamic helps create the onstage camaraderie we all associate with The Beatles. From their earliest days in Liverpool to the heady last days in Abbey Road Studios, Like… The Beatles recreate it all with diligence and respect, to the point that the audience loses themselves in the incredible music and forgets about the tribute band – and that’s their aim!
“Like The Beatles, are as close to the Fab Four as you can get” Ed Petrie – The BBC

Naked Apes
Naked Apes from East London play pop, rock, and soul. What has eight legs and evolved from monkeys? Find out for yourself when Naked Apes — formerly The Monkeys — play Felixstowe Carnival. Guitarist Oli Grünfeld told Felixstowe Carnival:  “We love playing out here where people really know how to have a good time — we’re looking forward to going bonkers at the Carnival.” So what does Darwin have to do with it? “We were The Monkeys until someone said there was already a Monkees, even though they were way before our time, and they never played Felixstowe Carnival as far as we know,” Oli explained.  “Then we tried Naked Elephants, but we thought:  What’s the point of a naked elephant?  So we became Naked Apes.” He added:  “We have a ton of fun on stage and you’ll always get a lively show when you come and see us. “We play anything you can let your hair down to and dance along with.”

The Start!

The Start pic1
The Start! is a high energy, pro standard live band playing the best in Mod, and Ska / Two
Tone with a splash of Northern Soul too. They perform music by iconic artists such as The
Who, The Specials, The Jam, The Small Faces, Toots & The Maytals, The Selecter, Eddie
Floyd, Gloria Jones, Paul Weller, Madness, Bad Manners, Desmond Dekker and much more!
The origins of the band go back over 30 years to four young hopefuls from Canvey Island
with a love of all things Mod. The Start was born & played local gigs to a large enthusiastic
following. The band also found national TV stardom appearing on Thames Television’s
“Freetime”. The band did eventually drift apart with members going on to careers in music
including teaching, performing, touring and recording.
Fast forward to 2014 and after the demise popular Essex bands The Score and P45 rises a
new version of The Start! featuring original members Brook Railton (Vocals), Rob Sigston
(Guitar) with new rhythm section Dave Moon (Bass Guitar) and Dustin Lee Burgess (Drums).
Dave exited the band in early 2015 to be replaced by former Secret Affair Bassist Sean Kelly.

The Remnants are a 5 piece cover band from Essex where basically any song, artist or genre goes from The Cult to Paul Weller to George Ezra, as long as it flies they don’t care. The Remnants came out of a previous band after two members went their own way (hence the name) and so the Remnants recruited Duncan and then Steve to complete the picture.
