A vacancy has arisen for a Crane Training Manager role which could be based at any one of the Freightliner Ltd Terminals.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the training of all new starters on container handling equipment. You will be expected to carry out yearly assessments of all qualified trainers within the Intermodal Terminals. The ideal candidate will have a flexible approach to working, a proven track record of training on container handling equipment, whilst supporting and developing individuals within the various teams. You must possess the capability to adjust operational resources to meet customer expectations. In addition you will have the ability to maintain and improve standards in a changing environment and assist in the development of any new equipment that is used by the terminals.
You will also be required to: –
  • Carry out incident investigations
  • Carry out refresher training
  • Have the ability to develop and deliver training to a wide audience
  • Highlight incorrect operating techniques
  • Write methods of working for new equipment
  • Have excellent communication and man management skills
  • Operate and use Freightliner IT Equipment/Software
  • Work at heights
  • Travel extensively throughout the UK
Having the following ITSSAR accredited qualifications would be advantageous, however training will be provided to the right candidate:

Applicants are invited to apply for the above vacancy within the Port Operations Department, based at the Port of Great Yarmouth. There are multiple positions, some of which are flexible contracts and some are permanent full-time contracts.

Role Purpose: To carry out the duties assigned to them efficiently and safely on a daily basis in line with operational requirements.

This role will include the following responsibilities: 

-Provide first class labour supply and cargo handling services for all customers

-Ensure safe, careful and efficient vessel load/discharge in accordance with safe systems of work

-Consistently produce work to an accurate standard to meet targets required within the department

-Ensure performance within the department is kept at a high standard and customers' instructions are precisely met

-Clerical duties which may include but are not limited to gatehouse work, cargo tallying and weighbridge operator

-Liaise with operations management to ensure tasks are identified and carried out to meet customer requirements

-Remain flexible and reactive to changing operational requirements

-Mindful of cost management within their daily activities (energy, consumables, housekeeping)

-Cargo handling duties that may include but are not limited to slinging, banksman, cargo lashing, counterbalance fork truck driving, skidsteer and loading shovel

-Conduct supplementary projects/tasks as directed

Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:

-Good understanding of health & safety best practice

-Knowledge of cargo operations is ideal but not essential

-Excellent communication skills

-Full UK driving licence

-Experience of operational plant is desirable but not essential

-Ability to adhere to varying customer requirements

-Proven experience of multi-tasking ensuring deadlines are adhered to
