Ultra large Evelyn Maersk sails to Felixstowe from her last port of Algeciras with a draft of 13.9 metres. Two tugs were requested for the port swing to go portside to Berth 9. Svitzer Deben made fast centre lead aft and Svitzer Shotley made fast centre lead forward. As Evelyn Maersk approaches her berth, dredger Barent Zanen passes and the Stena Britannica sails out from Parkeston Quay for the Hook of Holland.

CSCL Indian Ocean departing Felixstowe Berth 8 7th January 2017

Ultra large CSCL Indian Ocean departs a misty Port of Felixstowe with a draft of 14.2 metres for her next port of Rotterdam with assistance of two Svitzer tugs. Svitzer Deben is made fast on the centre lead aft and the Svitzer Shotley on the centre lead forward for a pull off Felixstowe Berth 8. As she comes away from the berth the pilot onboard starts to swing the bow into the channel releases the Svitzer Shotley and comes ahead on the main engine.
Svitzer Shotley drifts to the port starboard quarter and positions at a 45º angle while Svitzer Deben hangs on the starboard quarter ready for a powered in-direct around the 90º Beach End turn out of the harbour.
