Port Director - Containers

Applicants are invited to apply for the Port Director - Containers vacancy within a newly created Container Business Unit, based at the Port of Liverpool. 

Role Purpose: To provide executive leadership of the Peel Ports Group principal container terminal businesses within Liverpool, Manchester Ship Canal and Ireland.

The Port Director - Containers role will include the following responsibilities: 
-Develop annual revenue and cost budgets which meet or exceed the amounts set out in the business plan 
-Deliver revenue and EBITDA which meets or exceeds annual budgets 
-Contribute to and lead the execution of strategic plans within the container cluster 
-Develop, lead and maintain commercial relationships with shipping line customers, forwarders and cargo owners 
-Ensure a constructive working relationship with unions and third party labour providers 
-Position the container business as a logistics solutions provider, differentiating through quality, cost and service solutions 
-Negotiate terminal handling agreements with customers which optimise revenue and service level obligations 
-Develop, lead and maintain relationships with other operational stakeholders such as hauliers and rail freight operators 
-Deliver best in class customer service and operational performance, through the leadership and delivery of group driven KPI's

Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience: 
-Experience of managing Container terminal businesses with full P&L responsibility and/or senior commercial shipping line experience 
-Strong customer satisfaction ethos including a strong commercial understanding and alignment 
-Excellent leadership and coaching skills 
-Educated to degree level or equivalent is ideal 
-Proven experience in dealing with change management 
-Capable of driving step change in business performance 
-Previous experience of delivering capital expenditure projects
