The Port of Hamburg | Outlook for 2017 360° Part 1

The Port of Hamburg has released its smartPORT TV outlook for 2017 in a new 360 degree video format that focuses on its smart port projects for the year with the chief executive Jens Meier.

The video update follows news last month from Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) that it has invited organisations from all sectors to contribute ideas for a futuristic development of Steinwerder-Süd, a 42-hectare-sized area in the centre of the port.
Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), which operates three container terminals at the Port of Hamburg, also reported today (February 13, 2017) that its container throughput grew year-on-year by 1.5 percent to 6.7 million standard containers (TEU) in 2016.
The container transport activities of HHLA’s Intermodal companies have also continued to develop as it exceeded the previous year’s volume by 6.8 percent with 1.4 million TEU, with rail companies increasing transport volume by 8.0 percent to 1.1 million TEU. Road transport also recorded a slight increase of 2.9 percent on the previous year.
