Longshoreman at Savannah was run over by a yard tractor

Blueoceana Company has been made to understand that a longshoreman at Savannah was run over by a yard tractor on the dock early yesterday morning during vessel operations.
Our understanding, is that the gangs were at the beginning of the "breakfast break", and as this worker (and others) were walking away from the vessel a yard tractor operator acknowledged the presence of the worker walking immediately in front of the accident victim but failed to observe the victim, himself.

The lower part of one leg was drawn under the tractor's wheels, and suffered "pinch-type" injuries between the knee and calf. We were told that there was significant loss of blood and serious tissue damage.
The worker, a member of ILA Local Union 1414, is currently in hospital with serious, but not life threatening, injuries. He is eating and being provided pain management. We also understand that a surgery is planned.
We'll spare members the more graphic photographs that were shared with us, as we hope for a full recovery....
