Maersk Edmonton departs Felixstowe 26th May 2017

Maersk Edmonton departs Felixstowe Berth 7 for her next port of Le Havre with a draft of 13.75 metres.
The 366 metre vessel sails with the assistance of Svitzer Deben aft and Svitzer Sky forward.
Once onboard the pilot requests to single up and depart. Both tugs were made fast on the centre leads. The wind was on the portside of the ship which made letting go slightly harder so the pilot had the tugs pushing up to help release the lines fore and aft.

Spring line released the tugs come away from the ships side and begin to pull off at 25% increasing to 50% a short while later. The pilot gives a kick ahead on the main engine releasing a plume of black smoke from the funnel. Pulling further away from the berth the pilot gives another kick ahead releasing more black smoke.

The wind pushing the Edmonton towards the edge of the channel the pilot required the tugs to move onto the port side to catch her before she gets to close to the channel. Once under control the pilot comes ahead on the main engine and releases the forward tug Sky and proceeds down the harbour keeping the Deben aft for a powered in-direct around the 90deg Beach End.
