Applicants are invited to apply for the above vacancy within the Operations Department, based at the Greenock Ocean Terminal.
Role Purpose: To work within a team to carry out operations efficiently, effectively and in a safe manner. To ensure the on-time delivery of planned activity, continuous flow of productivity and high customer satisfaction levels.
This role will include the following responsibilities:
-Completion of all operational duties in an effective manner, ensuring a safe personal working culture is ensured at all times
-Carry out pre-checks on equipment prior to commencing operations, reporting all defects
-Facilitate with the mooring and unmooring of vessels as required
-Assist with removal and insertion of container twist-locks
-Operate plant and machinery as required for Forest Products Cargo , Container Handling Operations and Cruise Vessel Operations
-Demonstrate commitment to multi-skilled activity where appropriate, including assisting the Maintenance department
-Work in relation to all Safe Systems of work and undertake and complete all relevant training
-Work in relation to all security, ISPS and Customs procedures on site
Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:
-Experience of operating heavy mobile plant such as Excavator, FLTs and Straddle Carriers
-Able to demonstrate commitment to maintaining operational Health and Safety standards, as well as an understanding of permit to work systems and accident reporting
-Previous experience of working within a Port environment and/or vessel discharge would be considered an advantage
-A full valid Driving Licence is essential
-A positive attitude towards flexible working and the necessity to work hours as per operational requirements
-Capable of working effectively under pressure in a fast moving operational environment
-Able to work at heights and willingness to work within a sometimes dusty environment
-Communicate effectively and work as part of a team
