New straddle carrier cranes delivered to Peel Ports, The Port of Liverpool

With more straddle carrier cranes delivered to Peel Ports, Liebherr continues progress in the straddle carrier market
Peel Ports in Liverpool have purchased two new units of straddle carrier cranes, which have been successfully supplied by Liebherr. The port has also reserved the option to make further straddle carrier orders later in the year.
The model adopted by Peel Ports is the SC350T. The Port of Liverpool currently operates seven Liebherr ship to shore cranes. This latest purchase marks a continuation of Liebherr’s growth in the straddle carrier market.
Design features used by Liebherr include a four axle steering and brake by wire; steering and braking inputs are independent of the engine speed. Liebherr also adopt an electrical hoist winch design, featuring external disc brakes.
The four axle steering system with cylinder mounted sensors improves steering accuracy in both two and four wheel steering modes, leading to reduced tyre wear.
By having hydraulics at ground level rather than in the engine compartment and top platform, the fire risk is also reduced.
