On 11 December organized International Dock Workers Council (IDC) and the ETF conference in Barcelona. The conference focused on a possible successor of Ports Package I and II.

The European Parliament voted Ports Package I and II road, but now Europe has a different tactic. Europe looks at each country individually and see how the port labor is organized.

Domino effect
Portugal was part of a decree already the status of the port workers and now Spain is also in the sights of Europe come. The European Commission also gave Belgium and Germany a list of comments. The fear is that Spain is going to cause a domino effect if its statutes dockers should adjust.

Port Package III?
From this point there was a debate started among the attendees. It follows a final statement of the unions: "Although it is not common requirements bundle of Europe, yet we consider this as a new attack on the status of the port worker. This was called Ports Package III along. It is a first signal to Europe: we are alert and organize ourselves against these attacks. With a deadly virus turns Europe country by country, but we are the antidote. There is a working group with members from IDC and ETF (supported by ITF) a strategy. The first step is an international port workers demonstration in Brussels (late February / early March) in which all ports in Europe actions occur. "
