Engineering the future: London Gateway to hold engineering jobs fair

Engineering vacancies available now

London Gateway, Essex:  London Gateway, the UK’s newest deep-sea container port, will be hosting an onsite engineering jobs fair on Saturday 20th April 2013, providing the local community with the chance to find out more about the range of current engineering vacancies available at the port.
London Gateway is looking for self-motivated, adaptable mechanical and electrical engineering technicians, as well as engineering team leaders to join its dynamic world-class workforce. In the latest phase of recruitment, London Gateway plans to hire 300 new employees to join the team, which is currently 100 strong.
At the fair, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with London Gateway’s existing engineering team to find out what a job at the £1.5 billion port could entail. Owned by global marine terminal operator DP World, London Gateway offers structured training programmes to new starters to ensure that a first-class standard of service is delivered from day one. Port experience is therefore not essential for candidates applying to join the team.
“London Gateway is gearing up for the opening in Q4 and as we get closer, we’re recruiting more and more people to join our team,” says Victoria Tobin, HR Manager at London Gateway. “We are not necessarily just looking for people with port experience, but people who are passionate about logistics and would be proud to say that they work at London Gateway.
“This jobs fair will provide a great opportunity for engineers in the local area to come down and take a look at what is on offer here; we want to encourage as many people from the local area as possible to sign up to attend.”
London Gateway is one of the largest job-creation projects in the UK and will create 36,000 direct and indirect jobs when fully developed.
