TTS Group ASA : TTS to deliver cassette system for new London Gateway terminal

TTS Group ASA has through its subsidiary TTS Port Equipment AB signed an order to supply material handling equipment for the new DP World London Gateway Terminal in United Kingdom.
The order concerns the supply of ten (10) LTH70 translifters along with one hundred fifteen (115) cassettes for the new DP World London Gateway Terminal with delivery scheduled for summer 2013.
"This solution will increase the efficiency of the new terminal," says Lennart Svensson, Executive Vice President of the Port & Logistics Division in Gothenburg. "The solutions from TTS will secure an efficient workflow across the container terminal operations.  We are confident that the TTS cassette system will provide a positive contribution to the terminal gateway project."
Container transport
The DP World London Gateway Terminal will use the cassettes and translifters to transport containers between automatic stacking cranes and the railway line, as well as to and from the customs area, when the terminal opens in Q4 2013. Situated on the north bank of the River Thames, London Gateway will be the UK's 21st century major deep-sea container port and Europe's largest logistics park, and will provide unrivalled deep-sea shipping access for the world's leading businesses to the largest consumer markets in the UK.

Quick and efficient system
DP World chose the TTS cassette system to ensure high performance within their land side operation. The cassettes themselves are designed to safely support containers while being quickly transported, and containers can be stacked and carried on a single cassette in a variety of configurations. The translifters, coupled to a universal towing tractor, will after a pick-up or a drop-off of a cassette, be able to move on to another task with virtually no idle time. This allows for higher utilization of the terminal equipment as well as a high productivity.
