Emma Maersk motor disassembled

Emma Maersk's giant 14-cylinder diesel engine has been lying like a giant puzzle in a warehouse in Sicily. All the parts have been washed with fresh water and examined for corrosion, until finally treated with oil.
All part of the 14RTflex96 engine have been seperated, cleaned and are now ready to be installed again. This coincides with all electrical and IT equipment that has been under water, has been replaced by new equipment.

Maersk Line hopes that they in the middle of June will commence a dialogue with classification societies for approval of the ship so that it can sail on.
Emma Maersk took in large amounts of water at the entrance to the Suez Canal on 1 February, after a hole having been punched in its hull by a faulty thruster.
