Felixstowe: Fans of two-wheeled travel set to enjoy pair of big events at resort

Enthusiasts of two-wheeled travel will be flocking to Felixstowe this weekend as the resort stages two big events for motorcycle and cycle fans.
Felixstowe Motorcycle Show and the Port of Felixstowe Bike Day both take place on Sunday and organisers are hoping for a good turn-out.
Paul Armbruster, of the motorcycle show, now in its third year, said: “Last year the weather was awful and it did spoil the day, but this year we are hoping it will be much better.
“The town centre will be filled with bikes – with hundreds for people to see – and also trade stands, dealers and stalls featuring different motorcycle organisations.
“It should bring lots of people to the town.”
The event is being staged from 10am to 4pm, with free motorcycle parking at Crescent Road car park.
Also on the day more than 100 motorcyclists are expected to take part in the annual run from Stonham Barns to the show, organised by St Elizabeth Hospice, Suffolk Advanced Motorcyclists and Orwell Motorcycles in aid of the hospice.
The Port of Felixstowe Bike Day takes place next to Tomline House, from 11am to 3pm and includes the rare opportunity to cycle across one of the world’s biggest ports.
The four-mile ride, which will be led for safety reasons, is suitable for anyone aged five and over, and will take place seven times.
The day will also include have-a-try bikes, a ‘mega-bike’, Watt Bike challenge, bike health checks, charity stalls, a BMX stunt display team, Ipswich Cycle Speedway have-a-go sessions, and Suffolk Police security post-coding cycles.
Paul Davey, head of corporate affairs, said: “There will be new and exciting have-a-go sessions from mountain bike skill courses to cycle speedway and sail biking.
“The cross port cycle rides must be pre-booked and will allow people to see the ever-changing landscape of the port up close, including the New North Rail Terminal.”
